Blind Cigar Review: Marrero | Tesoro Mio TorpedoInitial Impressions

Appearance: 91

“Great looking shaped and sized cigar. The surface is very smooth with one prominent vein running down the side without which it would have been perfect. No other major blemishes to the surface. Seems well made.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

Aroma: 91

“The wrapper had a Tobacco smell, the foot had a mild tobacco aroma and the dry puff tasted a little musty and like mushrooms and wet grass.” –Craig (WyldKnyght)

First Third

Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“This cigar was very easy to light, the was a lot of hay and mild nuttiness, I’m thinking maybe acorns, the burn was very even. As this progressed I started to get very mild hay.” –Craig (WyldKnyght)

“This stick starts with very minimal body and settles in around the medium mark as the first third gets going. The flavors are sweet and balanced with notes of delicious, roasted nuts and honey. An early retrohale provides cashew and honey over a core of some ridiculously smooth tobacco.
I am loving every second of this.” –Ryan (Youngryan216)

Second Third

Blind Cigar Review: | Tesoro

Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“This is what I call a “shut up and take my money” cigar. Basically, if you see them for sale, you buy them without hesitation. The vitola, the construction, the draw, and the profile are really well balanced to create a nearly perfect, medium-bodied cigar. As the second third begins, a smooth caramel note comes through the cashewy profile to further deepen and develop the sweetness of earlier flavors.” –Ryan (Youngryan216)

“The middle third is also very one dimensional with the same flavors of hay and grass as before. Hardly any spice or pepper at this time. Other than a lack of flavors to increase complexity it is an easy smoke. Slight skewing of the burn line but no touch ups necessary. No issues with the draw were noted.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

Final Third

Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“For the final third the flavor did not change from the first. Lots of mild hay and nuttiness.” –Craig (WyldKnyght)

“A heavy but enjoyable pepper and potpourri mix hits the nasal cavity on the retro. Cedar, black pepper, cream, and citrus on the exhale. Strength is a solid medium.” –Matt C. (Big Matt)

Overall Impressions

Draw: 93

“The draw was excellent from the cold draw to my last puff. The tip was a little soft so I barely clipped the tip and it produced the right draw. Over-cut this stick and you’ll be out of luck..” –Matt C. (Big Matt)

Burn: 96

“A single relight during my experience allowed this stick to stay cool and delicious throughout. The burn line was nearly razor-sharp.” –Ryan (Youngryan216)

Construction: 92

“This cigar was firm with a little give, it had a nice easy draw and the ash was dark grey and solid. There was lots of thick creamy smoke.” –Craig (WyldKnyght)

Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 91

“Although this cigar was one dimensional and left me want more from it, the flavor profile was excellent. The construction seemed to be excellent as well. I would definitely try this cigar again.” –Craig (WyldKnyght)

“Wow. I was blown away by this smoke. It really hit everything a non- needs to hit on my checklist for me to put it in my regular smoking rotation. The sweet flavor profile and excellent construction reminded me of the My Father Flor De Las Antilles, which is one of my all time favorite cigars. This would be a great smoke for sitting by a campfire, roasting s’mores and telling stories. Or it would also shine as an after lunch smoke, as it is not overly heavy in body or too spicy in taste.
I would buy a box of these, in this vitola if the price was right.” –Ryan (Youngryan216)

“Overall this was an easy and pleasant smoke albeit at the cost of no complexity. I will try it again but will definitely not go looking for one.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

“The appearance, construction, burn and aroma of this cigar were all very good. On top of that, the cigar took a flame effortlessly. However this cigar was a very fast burner, I completed it to the nub in less than an hour, and I am a slow smoker. This cigar just never kept my interest; the mouth feel, body and complexity were never there. In the final third the stick showed a little greatness but then subsided. On a brighter note, I would recommend this cigar to a novice who usually only smokes his “one and only” as this cigar delivers diverse flavors and would help him graduate to the great big world of premium cigars.” –Matt C.
