Aganorsa Leaf has announced two new cigars for PCA 2023, as well as a packing change for an existing line.
The first new cigar announced by Aganorsa is a new premium edition of New Cuba: New Cuba Superior. The New Cuba line has been around for a long time, and has always been positioned as a budget cigar. Now, New Cuba Superior is rolled with long leaf tobaccos grown on Aganorsa farms in Nicaragua and packed in a dress boxes. The blend uses a shade grown Connecticut leaf from Ecuador along with Aganorsa’s Cuban seed varietals from Jalapa, Condega and Estelí.
We wanted to create a premium brand that was attractive in appearance, approachable in flavor, and affordable in price. Most of our portfolio is too intense for beginners or those who simply prefer a mild smoke. New Cuba Superior was crafted to satisfy this segment of the market.
Terence Reilly, Vice President of Sales and Marketing
New Cuba Superior will debut at PCA tradeshow this week. There will be three vitolas: Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (6 x 50), and Corona (5.5 x 44). All three vitolas are packaged in boxes of 25 cigars. Suggested retail prices will range from $6.50 to $7.50.
The next new release for Aganorsa is a 10×100 Torpedo version of the Lunatic. Aganorsa Leaf has been pushing the boundaries of large cigar vitolas with the Lunatic brand in the past, and now is releasing a gigantic 10 x 100 Belicoso Maduro under the Lunatic brand at the PCA tradeshow. The cigar is blended with a mix of Aganorsa grown tobaccos from Jalapa and Esteli and covered with a San Andres wrapper from Mexico, the vitola will be the largest cigar Aganorsa has ever produced and will be packed and sold in single slide top coffins.
When I joined Aganorsa over five years ago I was surprised we produced so many large ring gauge cigars. Then I looked at the sales and realized there was tremendous market demand for them. That trend hasn’t changed and this cigar is proof of it.
Terence Reilly, Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Packaged in single coffins, the Lunatic 10 x 100 production is limited to only 2,500 cigars this summer and is planned as an annual release. MSRP will be listed at $39.99.
The last change the company announced was at the original Rare Leaf packing and bands would now match the newer Rare Leaf Maduro packing. No images were provided, but they will be shown off at the upcoming trade show.
Aganorsa Leaf also recently announced that Fabien Ziegler would be joining the company. Fabien Ziegler will be the Director of Sales & Business Development. He will be in charge of acquiring new business for Aganorsa at the retail, wholesale, private label, and international levels. With nearly two decades of experience in the cigar industry, Fabien has served in a variety of director level roles over the years during his time with Drew Estate, handling sales both domestic and international, marketing, and consumer engagement. His experience in a wide array of areas will bring Aganorsa to the next level. “I left the industry in 2019 because I needed some time off,” states Fabien Ziegler. “Four years later, I am recharged and excited to join Aganorsa and bring an outside the box, non-traditional approach to an ever-changing industry. I look forward to seeing all my old friends and meeting new ones. This is just the beginning.” “With Aganorsa’s rapid growth over the past few years it was essential to bring on people who can help us continue to thrive,” states Terence Reilly, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Fabien brings so much to the table and it’s rare to find someone with his experience available in our industry. We are thrilled he has joined the Aganorsa team.” Fabien will be at the Aganorsa Leaf booth 1041 at PCA in Las Vegas.
