Coyol is made at the Raices Cubanas factory of Honduras.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
The Coyol farm became the inspiration behind this blend after AB owner Alan Rubin fell in love with the aroma and taste of the tobaccos that this revered farm produces. This celebrated tobacco can be found in every aspect of the Coyol blend. Wrapper, binder, and filler all have Coyol farm tobaccos making an appearance.

Initial Impressions
Appearance: 91
“This cigar has a light brown wrapper with well pressed seams, minimal veins and a few bumps along its body. The double cap comes off cleanly.” –Ryan (Youngryan216)
Aroma: 92
“Initially, I was bringing in an earthy tone on the wrapper. As I worked towards the foot, a subtle hay and fresh wood aroma started coming out. Quite interesting and intriguing.” -Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)
First Third
Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“The level of pepper initially is pretty aggressive, but about a quarter of an inch in it fades back into a more enjoyable experience. This allows the leather and cedar notes to shine. There is an occasional nuttiness that pops in adding a pleasant dimension. The retro-hale has a nice floral note that isn’t overpowering.” –Alan (Eulogy)
“I really took a liking to the first third. It was nothing too special with regards to off-the-wall flavors, but a mixture of cedar and leather were done right.” –Kent (Throck)
Second Third
Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“There’s been a nice transition from the leather and cedar to a slightly bitter black tea that I’m finding surprisingly enjoyable. There is still a hint of pepper in the back of the throat and the retro-hale is now a bright blast of pepper.” –Alan (Eulogy)
“The cigar begins to transitions as the developing leather mixes with the baking spice. Cedar and light toast move to the background providing a nice finish on the palate.” –Gregg (McGreggor57)
Final Third
Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Leather is beginning to dominate as an increasing cedar in the background pushes out the toast. The draw is tightening up making it difficult to coax out any other flavors.” –Gregg (McGreggor57)
“While the flavors have not changed much, other than improving a bit in the middle, the cigar has held my interest, but not much more. There is something “young” tasting about this blend that I feel could really smooth out over time. Especially in the final third.” –Ryan (Youngryan216)
Overall Impressions
Draw: 91
“There was a nice draw on this cigar. The smoke amount bellowed out nicely and provided a substantial amount of flavor and aroma.” -Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)
Burn: 89
“A good burn line and solid ash. Several relights were required near the end as the draw tightened up making it difficult to keep lit.” –Gregg (McGreggor57)
Construction: 91
“Except for the draw issues and pretty well constructed cigar.” –Gregg (McGreggor57)
Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Overall Experience: 88
“This cigar was kind of a roller coaster, it started off good, got better, and then fell flat. I would smoke another if offered, but I wouldn’t purchase any.” –Alan (Eulogy)
“Not a favorite of mine from the beginning. The initial profile was new and different, but the lack of depth and change had me bored after the first third. They might get better with some time, so if you have an interest get a few and give them a shot.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)
“Although this cigar fell short at the end, the first two thirds more than made up for it. A good balance of cedar, baking spices, toast and coffee that moved around within the profile. The final third was a bit heavy on the leather for my liking coupled with a very firm draw.” –Gregg (McGreggor57)
“I really enjoyed this cigar from start to end. It was nothing earth shattering, but more of the basics done right.” –Kent (Throck)
“This was a good smoke. If this was a Cameroon wrapper, I think I have definitely tasted similar, more nuanced blends, but there was nothing blatantly bad about this stick. I could see this pairing well with a carmelly root beer or a nice port wine after dinner.” –Ryan (Youngryan216)
