Initial Impressions
Appearance: 88
“This was a nice looking torpedo cigar. Very dark rich wrapper. There were a few veins throughout. A nice foot blended in to a real strong build on this cigar.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)
Aroma: 87
“Aroma of leather and wood chips.” –Stefan (Stefan)
First Third
Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“The cigar started off a lot smoother and milder than I had expected. There was a really nice smooth draw and flavor throughout. The burn wavered a little, but was nothing dramatic. The flavors were rich with a sourdough start, a pepper tease, and a nice nut finish.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)
“The first third was quite nice. It let you become introduced to the cigar in a very nonabrasive, relaxed way. The flavor of leather was the one that stood out in the forefront, but subtle notes of almost a cashew flavor were a little behind.” –Kent (Throck)
Second Third
Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“The second third continues the bitter aromatics leitmotif while adding a little spice, a smidgen of cocoa, as well as episodic hints of nuts.” –Stefan (Stefan)
“While the flavors have tamed a bit, I am still enjoying the coffee and honey flavors. This cigar has maintained a nice balance of flavors not leaving you guessing what comes next. The sweet smell of wet leather has lessened, but still an enjoyable smoke. It has formed a very nice chimney leading to a very nice burn. Just as I sit back after bragging about the nice chimney, it fell away.” –Eric (smalls29)
Final Third
Flavor: 86
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium
“There was really no change from the second third. It was pleasant, but slowly became a little monotonous due to lack of complexity.” –Kent (Throck)
“The last third introduces notes of wood chips, keeping the overall profile dry, and lowering the intensity of the bitter aromatics at first; close to the midpoint the flavor profile switches drastically becoming overly bitter, akin to an unbalanced Amaro.” –Stefan (Stefan)
Overall Impressions
Draw: 89
“The draw was very even throughout. No tightening in any location which was a great little bonus for this cigar.” –Kent (Throck)
Burn: 93
“The burn was another nice factor. Clean, sharp more often than not, and lacked touchups. Well done.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)
Construction: 90
“No major issues with this stogie’s performance, though it seemed a bit unevenly rolled.” –Stefan (Stefan)
Overall Strength: Medium-Strong
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 88
“The initial start of this cigar was very pleasing. However, the cigar quickly turned and lost my interest. With a little rest, these might fully develop, but it was an all-around decent smoke that wasn’t too overpowering. Give em a chance. They should be around mid-level pricing and should be easily obtainable.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)
“I did not mind this cigar at all. It was fairly one noted, but that blend of leather and cashew work synergistically together to hit all of the right keys. I wouldn’t mind having one of these in the future paired with some espresso.” –Kent (Throck)
“The flavor profile of this stick seemed to me skewed too much toward dry notes of bitter herbs; it could probably be a good accompaniment for Amari, but as a stand-alone smoke it is failing in my book.” –Stefan (Stefan)
“This was an enjoyable cigar through the first two thirds. The coffee flavors with hints of honey were a nice change from those I have experienced. The flavors had a nice balance and never competed for attention. The aroma of wet leather, to me, were a nice effect. To me it added a nice enhancement. However, as I approached the end the strong, bitter flavor took over. I was hoping for a nice ending but this was not to be. Regardless of the end, this was still a nice cigar. In my opinion you can’t go wrong with the nice coffee flavors.” –Eric (smalls29)
