Cigar Info
The Coescha 2013 is the second of Mombacho Cigar’s annual vintage release. The cigars were rolled 4 years ago and have been aging ever since.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
“Cosecha” translates to “harvest” and is often used in the cigar world to show a special release from a specific time period. For future releases, the Cosecha 2014 and 2015 have already been rolled and are resting in the aging room at Casa Favilli until ready for distribution. This release comes in one vitola, a 6 x 52 toro with a pigtail cap. It comes in 10-count boxes with an MSRP of $21.95 per stick. Only 800 boxes of this harvest were made. Last years release became hard to find quickly, and the company expects the same this year.

Initial Impressions
Appearance: 92
“Dark brown wrapper invisible seams minimal veins. Moderate give in the bunch. Very well constructed” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
Aroma: 92
“On the nose, notes of light brown sugar, leather, and mocha are present. On the cold draw flavors of Sweet apricots and leather tease the tongue.” –John A. (Bostoneo)
First Third
Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“The first-third has an oily black pepper, and a strong mineral note. The retrohale in the first-third is purely mineral so far. While too much mineral can be overpowering and bitter, here, the mineral here is crisp and clean.” –Jeff (ExpendableYouth)
“On the cold draw I get cinnamon along with some milkshake flavors and a bit of salt. despite the bad boy image this cigar portrays it’s actually starting out quite smooth with come cocoa and cream. About 15 mins in and the cigar performing very well. It’s a medium strength at best, with lots of creaminess.” –Mickey T. (irratebass)
Second Third
Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Round two begins dominantly with a leather profile, spiciness no longer has a strong presence, however does come in and out. Toward the back end of this third a slightly sweet chocolate, port, and malt flavors present themselves.” –John A. (Bostoneo)
“Draw is very nice, leather begins to occupy most of the profile with all other notes slowly fading away. Burn begins to canoe a burn correction is inevitable.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
Final Third
Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Spice and earth flavors are front and center with a bit of coffee thrown in. The strength never really got above a a medium though.” –Mickey T. (irratebass)
“The final-third is a continuation of the previous thirds. The pepper has really begun to build in this third and so has the mineral note. The retrohale is entirely mineral as well.” –Jeff (ExpendableYouth)
Overall Impressions
Draw: 97
“Draw was very nice all the way through the experience.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
Burn: 91
“The burn was perfect throughout the cigar and never needed a relight or touchup.” –Jeff (ExpendableYouth)
Construction: 95
“Really good construction. The cigar never burned hot, and I got plenty of smoke with each puff.” –Mickey T. (irratebass)
Overall Strength: Medium-Strong
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 88
“This was a good cigar that surprised me with how creamy it was despite the looks of the cigar. I was expecting a powerhouse of a smoke, but it was a medium in strength with plenty of flavors of cocoa, nuts and some coffee.” –Mickey T. (irratebass)
“This was a really nice cigar but a bit one dimensional. The core notes of pepper and mineral predominated throughout the entire smoke and left a bit to be desired. I think that this is a cigar that would really benefit a bit of rest before smoking. ” –Jeff (ExpendableYouth)
“Overall, this was an excellent cigar to have thoroughly enjoyed. The sheer complexity of the first and third add me in cigar smoking Nirvana. Well the second third wasn’t as complex as the first, it was equally delicious as well. Towards the very end of the cigar I wished the flavor profile took a strong vibrant push to maintain the spirit of the previous portions, however it had “flavor death” with 2 ichesn left and was put to rest. A definite box purchase for me!” –John A. (Bostoneo)
“With the burn problems and profile problems in the last third this was the highest score I could give the cigar. I do think it is box worthy and a good cigar to have around. Just wouldn’t be on my 91+ list” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
