Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust and Cigar Dojo are collaborating on a new Japanese-Themed Sobremesa Cigar. This marks the first time the two companies have collaborated on a cigar. The cigar is the Sobremesa Brûlée “Wagashi” 和菓子, a slightly tweaked version of the original Sobremesa Brûlée blue, Japanese-inspired twist. The name comes from a dessert delicacy of Japan that rose to cultural import during the Edo Period (1603-1857).
"I really enjoyed this cigar as a peppery cigar lover. The mix of the various pepper flavors and a sweet cedar and oak just blended perfectly on the palate. While not the most complex cigar the flavor was great and seemed to be perfect in this corona length. I will absolutely try to revisit the cigar in the future." -Lauren S. (Lauren S.)
General Cigar has announced a new regular production line to the Punch brand. Punch Golden Era was designed to celebrate corojo tobacco that had a starring role in the “golden age” of cigars. Corojo had been used as the wrapper of choice on many cigars until tobacco diseases and mold brought the tobacco to the brink of extinction.
Hooten Young Cigars has hired our very own Allison Trainer as its Vice President of Sales Tobacco Division and Consulting. Allison has been a panelist at BMP for a few years now, we wish her congratulations!
"This cigar was constructed the way a cigar should be. A nice even burn, consistent draw, and no unraveling. Not worrying about construction allows the smoker to focus on what’s important and this cigar delivers. With a nutmeg earthiness introduction, the palate was pleasantly surprised. Getting accustomed to the sweetness there was a change of pace when peppery notes took over. As the cigar came to a close the nutmeg joined the pepper leaving me wanting more. " -Jai P. (Jai)
"WOW is all that comes to mind!!! I have a handful of cigars that I consider to be my favorites. All of which check off all the boxes, all of which are consistent, all of which are flavorful and complex and all of which I know I will enjoy whenever I grab them out of the humidor. This stick fits that bill and more! Even though this smoke started off one-dimensional for a short amount of time, the flavors were delightful and far from dull. What stemmed from there was nothing short of incredible! Ripe with an abundance of complexity, flavors, and a series of transitions that told an intriguing story, this smoke proved to be a unicorn in my eyes. My only wish is that this cigar was twice as long to prolong the enjoyment. After one round I am ready to buy a box!" -Noah S. (Noah)
HVC Cigars has announced two new sizes to their HVC 10 Anniversary cigar that was introcued two years ago. Originally, the cigar was launched in just one size, a 6 1/2 x 50 toro. This new size comes in a more stout 5 x 54 robusto simply called the HVC 10th Anniversary 54.
"Despite having to battle a wonky burn throughout, this stick was nothing short of incredible in my book! The complexity was never over the top and the transitions just made sense. Salty and sweet flavor profiles danced a beautiful tango back and forth across my palate for the entirety of the smoke which made for a thoroughly interesting and enjoyable experience. The strength and complexity of this stick remained a solid medium from start to finish which would make it a sound choice for anyone wanting to graduate to a bolder flavor profile without being punched in the face by strength and body. 10 out of 10 will be seeking this one out to round out my normal smoking rotation." -Noah S.
