Espinosa and Small Batch Cigar teamed up for an exclusive release: Sombrero de Copa. The cigar is also a collaboration with Reddit’s /r/cigars community. The name Sombrero de Copa (top hat) is a reference to /r/cigars’ selection of “Aficionado of the Month”.

Master blender Hector Alfonso shared a few blends with Andrew of Small Batch and the moderators chose the blend that the though best represented the community’s diverse palate.Once the blend was finished, users voted for both the name and packaging of the cigar.
Sombrero de Copa uses a Habano wrapper, Jalapa Binder and Nicaraguan fillers from Esteli (ligero) and Jalapa (viso). The blend is said to be medium in body and strength, leading with citrus and sweeter tasting notes while licorice and spice are noticeable through the nose.
The companies say the Sombrero de Copa can be appreciated for novice smokers, yet offers a wide range of complex nuances for veteran cigar enthusiasts. It comes in one vitola, a 6 x 46 Corona Gorda selling for $6.99 MSRP. The come in boxes of twenty.
