Tony Bellatto of La Barba cigars has announced the next in his Ricochet line: Ricochet Mexi-Sol. The Ricochet line is a series meant to go back to Bellatto’s roots as a Sommelier, with each of the blends taking a component of wine he has fallen in love with. The new line will be shown at IPCPR 2019.
The first Ricochet blend, released last year, was blended to reflect his love of Italian Zinfandel or “primitivo” taking cues from the wine like spicy, earthy, leathery, and a little sweetness and spice.
This new Ricochet is blended to remind him of first Left Bank Bordeaux. He describes it as very balanced and complex with a definitive spicy minerality, and a touch of soft sweetness. The name “Cru Mexi-Sol” comes from its Mexican Sungrown Wrapper. It also uses Indonesian binder and fillers from Nicaragua, Pennsylvania and the Dominican Republic. It comes in four sizes: 44 x 4.25 – $7.00 MSRP, 6.25 x 52 Torpedo – $11.25 MSRP, 5.5 x 54 – $ 11.00 MSRP, 6 x 60 – $ 11.75 MSRP.
