Initial Impressions – JRE Aladino Classic Robusto

Appearance: 91

“A visibly well constructed Robusto featuring a less than attractive Wrapper. Very lumpy and veiny with many splotches and uneven coloring. The cap is well applied but wrinkly.” –Lauren S. (Lauren S.)

Aroma: 89

“Smelling the body there is notes of chocolate and caramel; while the foot showcases notes of black licorice. The cold draw has some light-grain notes. Overall it is a fine example of a cigar.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)

First Third

First Third

Flavor: 91
Strength: Mild-Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The blend opens very subtly with light woodsy notes of cedar and oak. The draw is open but there is not a ton of smoke production which I think is causing the very subtle flavors.” –Lauren S. (Lauren S.)

“Right from the start, there are notes of sourdough bread and cabinet spices, with the orange zest from the pre-light on the finish. The retrohale is primarily white pepper, with a hint of vanilla and mineral notes that sit for quite a long finish. Burn and draw are superb, with the cigar putting out a sizable amount of smoke. Getting to about the one-inch mark, the sourdough really steps up in intensity, and honey, present in the pre-light, moves in the picture to balance out the sourness. Overall, there is a creaminess to the profile making for a very smooth and pleasurable smoking experience.” –Kevin A. (Kevin A.)

Second Third

Second Third

Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The cake notes have carried over to this third. There is nutmeg starting to build as I reach the middle point of the third. The retrohale is smooth and flavorful. I am able to push almost a whole puff out of my nose. The smoke has become thicker on the palate. This lifts the finish to medium-long.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)

“The second third saw some subtle transitions from the salted nuts and caramel to more floral notes. There was some white pepper on the retro. The flavors were slightly more bright in this third. The cigar is still very mild to medium in strength. I think it would pair nicely with a chai tea.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)

Final Third

Final Third

Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The final third is where all the aforementioned flavors come together. Lots of dry hay, salted cashews, floral notes, and some white pepper. The strength picks up some but it’s still medium-bodied. An enjoyable finish to this cigar.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)

“As I enter the final third there is a dynamic shift in the flavor profile. Cinnamon has overtaken every other flavor. This is most noticeable on the finish as the cinnamon tingles on the tip of the tongue. The retrohale is fuller as well with some earthy notes. The finish is long and flavorful. This is a great finish to a damn good cigar.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)

Overall Impressions – JRE Aladino Classic Robusto

Draw: 87

“This cigar had a great draw. This allows the smoke to be cool and flavorful for the whole smoking experience.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)

Burn: 95

“The burn was the best part of this cigar. Solid burn line with no touch-ups or delighted needed.” –Lauren S. (Lauren S.)

Construction: 92

“Visually the construction seemed great but when it came to smoking there seemed to be internal issues causing a lack of smoke and harshness.” –Lauren S. (Lauren S.)

Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 90

“For the first two thirds, there was an odd flavor and bitter notes. The retrohale was interesting with raw mushroom flavor. In the last third that odd flavor and bitter flavors left and that is when I really got a good feeling of the cigar. However this was a little too late for me.” –Chad M. (Chad Tchad)

“This was an enjoyable cigar. While I typically do not enjoy linear profile cigars, there are cases where the flavor profile is good enough to keep my interest throughout the smoking experience. This cigar is one of those. Linear in profile but very good flavor profile, and representation of the notes that were there. My only complaint would be that it is a fast smoker. At just over an hour of smoking time, it was pretty quickly done, even for a robusto. All in all, it was a tasty, great smoking cigar and I am looking forward to finding out what it is.” –Kevin A. (Kevin A.)

“I think some internal construction issues caused the flavor issues I had. There was little flavor for me past the opening cedar and oak and hints of a sweet pepper retrohale. Sadly it became hot early on and loaded up badly by the end. I’d be interested in trying this blend again to see if I just got unlucky.” –Lauren S. (Lauren S.)

“This is a cigar I would definitely enjoy first thing in the morning with some light roasted coffee. There were enough changes to keep me interested and to keep me guessing about what would come next. One of the better mild cigars I’ve had this year. I’d recommend this to a newer cigar Smoker or even a seasoned vet. Well done.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)

“While the initial notes about this cigar might not impress the smoking experience was superb. Flavorful from start to finish, it made me sit back and reflect on each puff. It is definitely a cigar that makes you stop what you are doing and give it your utmost attention. I will smoke this again.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
