Quick Cigar Review: Crowned Heads | Headley Grange Black Lab LE 2018

Everything you look for in a great cigar is here. Tremendous smoke output with creamy smoke, solid construction, and a nice balance of flavors. If there was a bit more evolution of flavors I think it would be the best Headley Grange release in years. I would definitely recommend picking up a fiver of these.

Crowned Heads has announced it's annual Hawaii exclusive, Paniolo Especiale 2019. As with previous releases it is made at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Esteli Nicaragua. The cigar is a robusto that measures 5 1/2 x 48. The blend uses a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Mexican San Andres Binder, and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers.

Cigar News: Court Reserve XVIII from Crowned Heads Announced

At the 2018 IPCPR trade show in Las Vegas, Crowned Heads will show off the new Court Reserve XVIII.  Fans of Crowned Heads cigars will certainly celebrate when the cigars ship to retailers later this fall.  It will be a limited edition cigar from the Nashville based company, and available in three sizes.  The Court Reserve XVIII is wrapped in Mexican San Andrés, with a binder from Ecuador and Nicaraguan filler leaves.

In 2014, Crowned Heads released their first TAA Exclusive cigar, with "The Angel's Anvil" ad a clever play on the familiar acronym.  Since that first release, the yearly arrival of the TAA cigar from Crowned Heads has always been highly anticipated.  The team at Crowned Heads have not been afraid to mix it up either, changing the blend and vitola from year to year.  The release for 2018 will, once again, take risks and push boundaries.  This is something that has garnered Crowned Heads a loyal following and dedicated customers.

Cigar News: Crowned Heads Announces Four Kicks Mule Kick 2019

Crowned heads released the original Mule Kick in 2012 and was their first limited edition cigar. The cigar featured a higher priming Habano wrapper than the standard line and a tweaked blend. Only 5000 were made on the first release. The original blend was released again as a 2017 limited edition then a new blend in 2018 that used a Connecticut Habano Maduro wrapper.

Cigar News: Crowned Heads Announces Thompson Cigar Co. Exclusive ‘Juarez’

'Juarez' is a followup to the 2014 cigar 'Jericho Hill'. That cigar was inspired by the Johnny Cash song 'Cocaine Blues'. This Thompson Cigar exclusive has a Mexican San Andres wrapper like the Jericho hill, but that is where the similarity ends. It uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. It will come in 20 count boxes in three vitolas: 4 3/4 x 52, 6 x 54, and 5 x 56 all parejo shape. The price ranges from $5.95-$7.95.

"This was a not a flavor profile that fit my wheelhouse. Having said that, for someone who likes hazelnut and some black licorice this will be a decent cigar for them. I didn’t like the bitterness of the cigar but it did progress into a tartness that wasn’t distasteful to me. I would have thought the cigar would be stronger than it was given the types of flavors but it remained a medium to full, on the more medium side for me. Cigar News: Mule Kick LE 2018 from Crowned Heads Announced

The Mule Kick LE from Crowned Heads will make a comeback again in 2018.  This limited edition run of the Four Kicks cigar made a big splash when it was first released in 2012 and was highly sought after again in 2017.  The 2012 version was a tweaked blend of the original Four Kicks with a high-priming habano wrapper and the 2017 release attempted to repeat that same blend.
