Cigar News: Drew Estate Expands ACID Regional Accents

Drew Estate has announced some new additions to their ACID Regional Accent series, a group of cigars exclusive to one region of the US. Joining now are California, Chicago area, Georgia and Texas. These two join the Jay St. Posse for the NYC Area and the B-More 410 for Maryland. The first two were shown off at IPCPR this year.

Cigar News: Drew Estate Unveils “DE2”, New 60,000 sq ft Leaf Processing Facility

On Friday, January 17th, Drew Estate Tobacco Company held a ribbon cutting ceremony at their new leaf processing facility, dubbed “DE2”. Built across the street from their La Gran Fabrica in Estelí, Nicaragua, the new facility is one of the largest, most state-of-the-art leaf processing operations in the world, specializing in dark air-cured tobaccos.

"Overall this is a very enjoyable morning cigar. Just enough complexity and spice to wake you up for your day, but a nice cool floral and woodsy flavor that would pair well with a morning coffee. Cigar News: Crowned Heads Announces Paniolo Especiale 2020 for Hawaii

For the second year in a row, Crowned Heads is partnering with Drew Estate for their annual "Paniolo Especiale" Limited Edition cigar. This is an exclusive to the state of Hawaii. Paniolo Especiale 2020 is rolled at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Esteli, Nicaragua and is a corona gorda measuring 5 3/4 x 46. The blend is similar to last years using a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Mexican San Andres binder, and filers from Nicaragua, and Dominican Republic, but this year features tobacco from Brazil. The Paniolo Especiale 2020 comes in boxes of 10 and have the same price of $9.80. Production is smaller this year at 5,000 cigars compared to 4,000 in 2019.

Drew Estate is re-branding and relaunching its value-oriented Nica Rustica brand. The original brand intent was a tribute to the people of Estelí, Nicaragua and this new packaging and artwork reinforces that. The new artwork was hand painted by Subculture Studios’ lead artist Richard “Dog” Diaz, and celebrates La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate and the good people who live there.

"There are some that would call this your grandfather's Connecticut cigar. I personally am not a fan of that flavor profile but I know the majority of the smoking community are. So this would be a winner for the fan of a cigar that is heavy on the cedar, vegetal, and pepper notes.
