The new line was created by Nelson Alfonso of Selected Tobacco. The Alfonso Añejos joins Selected Tobacco's luxury lines: Atabey, Byron and Bandolero. Selected Tobacco was started by Nelson Alfonso to offer the market a cigar that is aged with a purpose. All the Selected Tobacco lines are placed into cedar lined rooms after they are rolled, then humidity is raised and lowered to allow the cigars to clean themselves with the cedar notes from two to five years.
United Cigars is collaborating with Reinier Lorenzo and HVC Cigars to release a version of their Black Friday cigar in a Firecracker format. The original United Firecracker started back in 2006, with collaborations on limited releases starting in 2010 as part of their Series Unidas line. In the following years, United Cigars partnered with a new company to release a new Firecracker. Sometimes there have been re-releases of older Firecrackers on top of the newer releases such as the Dunbarton Mi Querida Firecracker, which is making its third appearance this year. Earlier this year, United Cigars released the Perdomo Firecracker just before the Fourth of July.
"This cigar was very good. I can easily see myself putting this cigar in any customer's hand. There is enough going on that the experienced smoker won't get bored; yet not too overwhelming for a new smoker. I feel like it would be the perfect morning cigar with a cup of coffee. " -Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
"Overall, this was a nice shorter smoke that provided a nice bouquet of medium-bodied flavors that included leather, black pepper, earth, grassy and spicy lingering notes that showed up in some larger or minor form or another as the cigar progressed. Construction proved to be very good as the burn and draw were not much of an issue at all. This is a solid medium-bodied smoke that is easily recommendable for daily smoke, I believe the expense will probably reflect that as well. Nice job!" -John A. (Bostoneo)
