The project has been under wraps for over a year, but now Davidoff of Geneva is ready to talk about its new, upcoming brand—Davidoff Nicaragua.
In an unprecedented move for Davidoff of Geneva, the Swiss company is set to release its first Nicaraguan puro this summer at the annual IPCPR trade show. Davidoff CEO Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard sat down with Cigar Insider in New York City for an exclusive interview and disclosed the details surrounding the Davidoff Nicaragua brand.
The new line features a decade-old Nicaraguan Havana-seed Rosado wrapper around a distinct blend of tobaccos all culled from Nicaragua's major growing regions.
“We really wanted something that was different for Davidoff,” said Hoejsgaard. “This is a major step for us to expand to a new territory. I wanted to develop products that were not necessarily origin specific or rigidly tied down to one specific place. Davidoff is a brand, not a territory. The challenge was to make sure that if we do a Nicaraguan puro, it has to have the Davidoff twist of sophistication.”
By “Davidoff twist,” Hoejsgaard is referring to pristine wrappers, perfect draw and burn, an overall product consistency and “the ability to smoke it to the very end.”
