Alec Bradley has announced that their Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper cigar will be moving production from Ernesto Perez-Carrillo's (EPC) Tabacalera La Alianza in Santiago, Dominican Republic to Tobacos De Oriente in Danli, Honduras. The company says the change is due to increased demand from a combination of EPC Pledge Prequel and Gatekeeper receiving #1 and #7 Cigar of the Year from Cigar Aficionado magazine. The blend remains unchanged.
"It's a winner for me. I really enjoyed the shifts in profile, the quality of the smoke, and just how well it performed even with several areas that were damaged in transit. I'm thoroughly impressed with the experience and will be picking some of these up. " -Alan (Eulogy)

"This cigar would have rated much higher in this this category if it were not for the final third. The bitterness that crept in in the final third took it down a few notches along with the work it took to keep it going. The first two thirds shined as bright as the morning sun. The final third was more like a cloudy day with the threat of rain. " -James H. (Keikan Jim)

With only 2,000 boxes made, this year they’ve gone full-tilt with a new barber pole wrapper and a more full-flavored blend than the 2015 edition. Released annually on St. Patrick’s Day since it was introduced in 2013, fans of the brand may not recognize it at first. Using the traditional candela wrapper and swirling it around a three nation filler & binder core with a dark Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper, the result is a stunning new taste experience at every level.
