As a part of the restoration process for their El Reloj Cigar Factory in Tampa, J.C. Newman had to clear out almost 70 years' worth of items from the building. During this process, they uncovered some hidden gems, one of which was a trap door from the 1930s with a secret staircase that went from the General Managers' office down into the basement. It was used to hide when the Tampa Mafia would come through looking for payroll cash. Another item was J.C.'s (Julius Caesar's) travel trunk that accompanied him on his voyage from Hungary to Cleveland in 1889. One of the most interesting discoveries was a box stash of 10-year-old Brick House cigars tucked away in the basement years ago to age and wait for a special occasion to arise. To celebrate their 125th year, they are going to release them to the public by way of TAA retailers and named Brick House Beginnings.
Tabacalera Perdomo has announced a new cigar, the Perdomo Inmenso Seventy. It comes in two wrapper varieties, Sun Grown and Maduro. The new cigar will ship May 2021. It was originally released in the early 2000's but was ahead of it's time and was since discontinued. Now that cigar ring guages have crept up on average, the company felt it was time to bring it back.

"I feel like the flavor of this cigar might have been a construction or quality issue. By a couple of inches in the flavor was like I was licking a metal bar and heavy tar flavors mixed in making it pretty much unsmokable. I tried to fight through it but I believe something was just not quite right here. "The flavors on the cigar were interesting and complex from the get-go. While the strength never passed a solid medium the taste was a journey starting with a sweet floral beginning into the more spicy cedar middle followed by a super complex end with nuts and pepper. The ash and burn were pretty much perfect. My only real complaint was how fast it smoked timing in at just over an hour.
