Editorial: Home Roll Cigar Series | Award Winners

I must admit, when I approached the home rollers on the BOTL web forum about a friendly contest, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I learned that coordinating a series of this type is a big logistical challenge for which I was unprepared. In the end, it was a good experience for me. I hope it was also a good experience for those who participated, and especially our readers.

"This was a fairly straight forward smoke without many flavor frills. I found it a bit boring at times as most the flavors were basic and not very complex. Blind Cigar Review: Blue Mountain Cigars | El Threesome Toro

"I was honestly surprised by this cigar. When I saw the three different wrappers I was immediately a little suspicious that it was going to be what I call a “hokey” cigar. Gimmick without much to it. I was pleasantly surprised by the consistent good flavor notes and the ability of the cigar to transition fairly seamlessly into the next type of wrapper. It didn’t go from nothing to a beat down and that impressed me more than anything. It kept building in intensity but in a very mild yet noticeable way. This is a great cigar for a herf where everyone can share what they are getting from this unusual cigar configuration. I’d smoke it again!" -Diana (ArmyRN)
