The original Cigar Dojo Sensei’s Sensational Sarsaparilla hit the market seven years ago. Sassy, for short, made a comeback in 2016 with Sensei’s Sensational Sarsaparilla II, or Sassy II. Now, in 2021 we get a third release of this cigar, now on a national level. The original Sassy was Cigar Dojo‘s second collaboration, this time with Erik Espinosa. The original release was a 5½” x 52 belicoso and only 1,000 bundles of 10 were made. We reviewed the Sassy II here.
The Sassy is back! The original Sarsaparilla was the first Dojo collaboration where we had full control of the final product. The Espinosa team let us run wild with the branding, marketing, and promotion, as well as picking the final blend. The cigars sold out quickly and we still get folks asking for its return. This time around, the Dojo and the Espinosa teams collaborated to create a more refined presentation while keeping the cigar itself identical to the 2014 version; because, why fix something that isn’t broken?
Eric Guttormson, owner of Cigar Dojo.
Sensei’s Sensational Sarsaparilla will be shown off at the PCA trade show this week in the Espinosa booth and will ship to retailers in August. The blend is the same as the original using a dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and Nicaraguan fillers from the Condega and Estelí growing regions. The packaging for Sarsaparilla has been updated to include more traditional boxes. This will be a regular production cigar, but the supply may be limited. Each box of 10 will cost $99.95.
Bro, when you think of Cigar Dojo and Espinosa Cigars, your first thought is Sarsaparilla. It’s the one that started it all. It’s time for everyone to get a turn with this cigar.
