As a part of The Great Smoke 2022 event taking place in February, a number of special exclusive release cigars will be sold. One of these is another collaboration between Espinosa Cigars and Cigar Dojo, Diet Sarsaparilla. This is a sequel of sorts to the original Sensei’s Sensational Sarsaparilla that was released 2014. Sassy, for short, made a comeback in 2016 with Sensei’s Sensational Sarsaparilla II, or Sassy II and then was released nationally again this year at the PCA show.
The original Sensei’s Sensational Sarsaparilla uses a dark Mexican wrapper and all-Nicaraguan fillers. The blend offers a unique profile that is sometimes likened to sarsaparilla soda in profile. Now, for the first time the “Sassy” is coming in a “Diet” form, available exclusively to TGS 2022 ticket holders.
As the name suggests, the Diet Sarsaparilla is a lighter version of the original, in both strength and appearance. The blend uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, a double binder that includes both Nicaraguan and Mexican tobaccos, and fillers from Nicaraguan including the Jalapa and Condega regions. This allows for continuity from the Mexican-wrapped original to the smooth (yet surprisingly full) experience of Diet Sarsaparilla. The cigar comes in only one size, a 6 x 48 toro.
As with all TGS exclusives, Diet Sarsaparilla will be offered only to ticket holders (virtual or in-person) of The Great Smoke 2022. Only 500 bundles of 10 cigars will be made available. Pricing is set at $120 per bundle of 10, but there will be special event pricing that has yet to be announced.
