Artista Cigars, now formerly El Artista Cigars, has announced a full rebranding of the company and new lines for PCA 2022 this week.
"For a cigar that looked odd from the get-go and had a highly unpleasant cold draw, it performed very well and acted overall like an “ordinary” cigar. Hooray! I liked the portfolio of flavors presented by this cigar throughout the smoking experience and, coupled with the excellent construction, I’d certainly smoke it again. " -Matt Cade (CadeTNCC)
Tabacalera El Artista has announced two new line extensions for existing brands and one new rebrand. Fugly Cheroots and Buffalo TEN each are each getting line extensions and the eight-year-old Puro Ambar is getting a new look and blend.
El Artista Cigars has announced Artista Studio Works (ASW), a collaborative effort between the El Artista Factory and Dominican Artists of multiple mediums. ASW seeks to bring the life and culture of the Dominican Republic to the rest of the world through works of art and inspiration.

The much anticipated cigar line makes its way onto hundreds of retail shelves this week, fulfilling IPCPR 2016 pre-orders. The first boxes shipped Monday morning, and El Artista expects thousands of boxes to reach retailers by Friday. Mr. Rodriguez stated, “The response from retailers and consumers has been overwhelming. We get calls every day.”
El Artista has announced a followup to their 2016 success Big Papi by David Ortiz: The Slugger Big Papi by David Ortiz. It will make its debut at the IPCPR trade show later this month.
"This cigar surprised me since there weren't any real aromas coming off of it before setting it ablaze. The cigar gave me plenty of cream, nuts, coffee, and chocolate. The big surprise/winner here was the crackerjack flavors I got on the finish.....it's subtle but it's there. The second half of this cigar opened up with a bit more earth and dirt flavors, but it never got harsh or hindered the cigar in any way. I am very curious to see what this is. I would definitely pick up a fiver and retry it again before committing to a full box purchase. Give it a go, and see if you get the crackerjack too." -Mickey T. (irratebass)
"Shockingly to me, I loved this cigar. I'm not a huge box-pressed cigar fan and this one is so thin worried me but it smoked wonderfully and the mouthfeel was not as harsh as expected. The flavors were complex and kept me interested the entire time. Starting with a red pepper blast that then settles into a smoky cedar and leather flavor. Complex baking spice and some surprise floral notes make this cigar stand out. I will absolutely seek out more of this stick in the future." -Lauren S. (Lauren S.)
(Tamboril, DR) - Today Tabacalera El Artista released details about a limited edition ‘Big Papi by David Ortiz’ humidor. Each is adorned with David Ortiz’s autograph and filled with Big Papi by David Ortiz cigars, part of the remaining original production run from 2013. “We wanted to memorialize the first batch of cigars David blended,” says Radhames Rodriguez, President of El Artista Cigars, “so we built eight exquisite 100-count humidors to house the remaining 800 cigars”.
"Listen this will not be the most complex cigar you ever smoked. That being said it hit on a flavor profile and executed it well. Everything was balanced from start to finish. This makes me want to reach for another. To me, it feels like the perfect morning cigar. It will complement a cup of coffee well. Grab a few and give it a shot. Enjoy" -Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
