This year, we decided to give you a tour of the show through the pictures we took while we were there. Some are of new items, and some are just things we thought were interesting. We will have a new slideshow for each major manufacturer and one big one for the smaller manufacturers.
Paul Joyal, founder and president of Ocean State Cigars, has added a 7-1/2" x 41 Lancero Limitado shape to his J. Grotto Silk line of boutique premium cigars. It joins the J. Grotto Reserve Lancero Limitado, introduced in 2012.
"Overall this was a very enjoyable smoke. From the pigtail and oily wrapper to nub, this cigar was a treat. Definitely a stronger cigar that should be enjoyed on a full stomach. The strength built significantly throughout and offered a definitive kick towards the end. Enjoyable flavors, although they did not transition much from start to finish. I would not give this stick to a beginner, however I would love to have a few more in my humidor. I enjoyed the smoke very much and can’t wait for the reveal so I can grab a few more. " -Adam B. (Bushboy)
New York City cigar institution Nat Sherman International Inc. will be adding a Super Lancero size to three of its existing brands. These limited smokes are made in the Dominican Republic at the Quesada Factory (formerly MATASA) and will be available in the Sterling, 1930 Selection and Timeless Collection brands. The cigars measure 8 inches by 38 ring, half an inch longer than the classic Cuban Laguito No. 1.
"It is a great lancero. The flavors were bold and crisp with enough strength to provide body and depth. I realize that I forgot to mention this earlier but the smoke output was fantastic and the ash had a constant plume of smoke coming off of it. It's an easy recommendation for me and worth picking up a fiver. " -Alan (Eulogy)
Back in November of 2017, Blind Man's Puff published the blind panel review of the Protocol Themis by Cubariqueño Cigar Co. The cigar was a hit with our panelists, scoring a 91 averaged across the 5 panelists who reviewed it. Now, to continue that line, they are introducing this tasty cigar in a fan-favorite Lancero vitola. This new cigar will be officially introduced next month at the 2018 IPCPR trade show in Las Vegas.
"Overall, this was a wonderful, flavorful, tasty cigar. I truly enjoy a cigar with a shaggy foot that actually functions well for tasting the cigar blend without a wrapper and then have it transition into something truly magical when you get there. Big big big flavors and a great construction and draw made this cigar very desirable to smoke again and again and again…. Pick up all you can of this cigar, I can’t imagine it would stay on shelves for very long!" -John A. (Bostoneo)
"I smoked this nice medium body in the morning and I think it hit the mark. I felt it was a very well balanced cigar that offered an nice profile. The baking spices and creamy smoke were very pleasant. Pair this with a coffee and you've got a complete breakfast." -Quinn (quinnpins269)
his year, we decided to give you a tour of the show through the pictures we took while we were there. Some are of new items, and some are just things we thought were interesting. These manufacturers were not sharing booth space, we just combined them into a single slideshow due to the number of pictures we had from each.
