As we close out our series on Puro Sabor 2018, let's take a look at the events that made the week special. In all honesty, even the everyday lunches were special events. It seemed like every time we gathered for a meal, the organizers pulled out all the stops and made it a grand occasion instead of just another meal. One of my favorite things about all of these events was the reality of being able to sit down with people from all over the world, all walks of life, and all manner of experience in the cigar industry. We were all the same at these events. It was just an enormous group of friends gathering for a meal, some drinks, and great conversation.
Famous 75th Padrón 1926 Series cigars are made in one size, a 5" x 54 box-pressed robusto rolled in two wrapper choices – Nicaraguan Habano natural or Nicaraguan Habano maduro. Presented in boxes of 10 cigars, these puros are exquisitely handcrafted with 5-year-aged Nicaraguan tobaccos offering a smooth, creamy, well-balanced smoke brimming with Padrón's signature earthy-spicy, full-bodied flavor profile. Only 3,000 boxes have been made, and like all Padrón Cigars, they will have individual, serial-numbered cigar bands.
Whiskey Barrel Coffee reached out to us to see if we would assist them in evaluating how their coffee pairs with cigars. I was very intrigued as whiskey and cigars are a fairly common pairing and coffee and cigars are another typical pairing. I was interested to see how this product that combined both of those drink aspects would pair with cigars.
A milder version of the Padrón brand—a Nicaraguan cigar draped in blonde Connecticut-seed wrapper and shaped in the round, rather than pressed square—is poised to be unveiled next month. The cigar, a first for the Padrón family, is meant to appeal to those who tend to smoke milder cigars.
