"A pleasant medium-body smoke that offered an abundance of sweetness and creaminess. That in my opinion would go nicely with an espresso. I enjoyed smoking this cigar mid-morning and I feel it would be a great addition to my rotation." -Quinn (quinnpins269)
HVC Cigars has announced two new sizes to their HVC 10 Anniversary cigar that was introcued two years ago. Originally, the cigar was launched in just one size, a 6 1/2 x 50 toro. This new size comes in a more stout 5 x 54 robusto simply called the HVC 10th Anniversary 54.
This year's HVC Black Friday is a different take on the blend according to brand owner Reinier Lorenzo. This year went without ligero, and instead chose only visos and secos in the filler. Most of them are from the Jalapa region and a few from Esteli. He says the visos are powerful enough to bring a unique body to this blend. The wrapper is a Habano 92 from Ecuador.
"Overall, not a bad tasty cigar, definitely slightly above average if smoked correctly, slow and low. The loose draw made this one smoke rather quickly, 55 minutes to be exact, and forced the smoker to slow down and sip this sample. The creamy notes of almonds, leather, peanut shells, and wood complimented each other very nicely and provided a well-balanced experience. I believe this would only be amplified with a better constructed cigar and would be improved immensely. " -John A. (Bostoneo)
In anticipation of the winter months, and the need for shorter smoking time, HVC Cigars is releasing a new size of their popular Hot Cake Maduro Line, a classic Half Corona that measures 44 x 3 1/2.
This cigar carried a bit more strength than I expected based on previous cigars from HVC. It has darker flavors which would make me lean towards smoking it in the evening or as a final cigar of a multi-cigar smoking experience. There weren’t many transitions, but that is OK as the cigars flavors were good. I wouldn’t recommend this cigar to a new smoker, but rather someone that is interested in strength along with flavors of earthiness, coffee and wood.
HVC is bringing a new cigar to the PCA 2022 trade show. HVC Selección No. 1 is the first cigar to come out of their new factory, Fábrica de Tabacos HVC S.A., that opened in Estelí, Nicaragua four months ago. The new boutique factory has 5 pairs of rollers and work exclusively on HVC cigars.
"Overall it had good flavors through and through. The strength of this cigar was more then I was expecting. The smoke output was a lot. The smoke texture was thick and really stuck to the palate. Musty mineral and rich earthy coffee notes. No sweetness to this smoke. Retrohale was very strong musty black pepper." -Chad M. (Chad Tchad)
"Straightforward notes of leather, plum, and black pepper are a good summary of what this cigar offers. It wasn't very exciting, but it wasn't bad either. Solid middle of the road cigar with nothing to really write home to mom about. " -Doug S. (Unpossible_1)
