Foundation Cigars has announced a brand new core line to be shown off at the PCA 2022 trade show next week. The new line is called "Olmec" and is expected to ship late summer/early fall. Foundation Olmec comes in boxes of 12 and in two wrapper choices: San Andrés Maduro and Claro.
Foundation Cigars is adding a 6 x 52 Toro to the Menelik line. The new size will be shown off at the PCA trade show next month. Menelik has been around since 2016 and was originally a event-only cigar. In 2019, it became more widely available in boxes of 12 as a limited release. The original size was a 4 1/2 x 52 short robusto.
JR CIgar continues to celebrate their 50th Anniversary with a growing list of collaborators making exclusive cigars. The latest to join the celebration is Nick Melillo and Foundation Cigars for El Güegüense JR 50th. El Güegüense is Spanish for “The Wise Man,” and is also the name of a Nicaraguan dramatic theater piece from the 16th Century. It is one of the oldest indigenous works in the Western Hemisphere. This was Foundation Cigar Company's first release back in 2016. Melillo chose the name in honor of his love of Nicaragua and its people. In 2020, Foundation released a 5th Anniversary edition of the El Güegüense with a slightly tweaked blend and The Foundation El Güegüense JR 50th is based on that special blend.

With the middle, a tad more mild and less pepper and more earth and coffee it did not overwhelm you like som peppery cigar will to some people. This should be a cigar to try on many people's list. Foundation Cigars has announced new house blend exclusively to Ligero Tobacco House in Buford, GA. The new cigar is called simply "Ligero Tobacco House" and comes in one size, a 6 ¼ x 46 Lonsdale. The blend uses a Habano Ecuador wrapper, San Andres Mexican binder, and filler from Esteli, Jalapa, and Ometepe.
Every year around the 4th of July, United Cigars comes out with a special limited edition of their Firecracker series. Each year is with a new company. This year's release is with Foundation Cigar Company and will be the Wiseman Maduro Firecracker 2021. Last year's Perdomo Firecracker made #23 on out Top 25 Cigars of the year list.
Foundation Cigar Company’s has announced two new sizes in the Tabernacle line: David and Goliath. Tabernacle was Nick Melillio's second traditional premium cigar line, coming the year after El Güegüense. Tabernacle was his first Foundation cigar to use Connecticut broadleaf and out of reverence for the tobacco leaf, and tobacco tradition came the name, from Hebrew scripture: The Tabernacle - which housed the Ark of the Covenant before the building of the Temple of Solomon.
