GRANADA, NICARAGUA - (8 MAY 2017) - Mombacho Cigars S.A. announced today that Patina Cigars have been shipped to the US and will reach retailers later in the coming weeks.
Mombacho Cigars S.A. announced today the shipment of their upcomming cigar, Casa Favilli, named after the factory in which all Mombacho Cigars are made. The Mombacho Casa Favilli is the first cigar to use a Broadleaf wrapper grown in Nicaragua. The first shipment is being called a limited pre-release and will consist of 150 boxes of each vitola. Regular production will take place in 2019. Each comes in 12 count boxes and the vitolas are as follows: Robusto – 5 x 50 - MSRP $10.95, Toro – 6 x 52 - MSRP $11.95, Torpedo – 5 ½ x 52 - MSRP $12.95.

Favilli (formerly Mombacho) and Fabien Ziegler have announced a new bundle of products called "Coffee & Cigars." As the name would suggest it comes with both coffee and cigars meant to be paired together. Ziegler spend 19 years with Drew Estate and departed form the company in 2019. He was quiet in the cigar industry until last month when the collaboration was announced.
Favilli cigars announced today that it is ending operations in the cigar industry. The company was formerly known as Mombacho Cigars when it hit purchased the Favilli Mansion in Granada, Nicaragua and hit the cigar scene in the US in 2014. The company saw the resignation of their president and master blender, Claudio Sgroi, in 2021 and has had trouble recovering in the market ever since.
Mombacho Cigars revealed new packaging design for their Liga Maestro line at the IPCPR trade show in Las Vegas earlier this month. The new boxes have a matte black finish with gold embossed Mombacho logo and are already shipping to retailers. The Tierra Volcán line will also be available in a similar box concept later this year.
Mombacho Cigars announced today the worldwide shipment of its Casa Favilli Series. It had shipped a small amount of the cigar back in November of last year to the USA and Switzerland, but this is the full global shipment.

The series started in 2017 with the Mombacho Cosecha 2012. That cigar scored a hefty 94 points in our review and made #5 on our top 25 list. Mombacho Cosecha cigars are a Nicaraguan puro, and true vintage, meaning they have been aging after being rolled.
Mombacho Cigars S.A. has brought on Indiana Ortez as General Manager to handle the company’s Nicaraguan operations. As the company comes into its 15th year, Indiana brings years of tobacco knowledge and a fresh energy to Mombacho’s production team. Indiana is of course the daughter of Omar Ortez, patriarch of one of Nicaragua's oldest tobacco families.
