Initial Impressions

Blind Cigar Review: Flor De Las Antillas | Robusto Initial ImpressionsAppearance: 91
Aroma: 90
Construction: 92

“Nice dark brown leather. Veiny wrapper is thin, veins are flat. Nice box pressed appearance. ” –Derek (lilninjabuddy)

“Prelight aroma is very reminiscent of tobacco, coffee and mixed sweet spices. Dry draw opens this up some more with coffee, nutmeg and some white pepper.” –Sandeep (Djangos)
“The cigar feels evenly filled and firm to the pinch and a triple cap (although the last one is off kilter). The factory box press looks perfect. Also, there is excessive cigar glue all over the wrapper.” –Jason (bigslowrock)

First Third

Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

Blind Cigar Review: Flor De Las Antillas | Robusto First Third
“This cigar started out with a bang in the flavor department.  My notes read like this as I identify the flavor.  Chocolate, toffee, roasted nuts, almonds, light sweetness and creaminess in the back ground… then I realized that  I was smoking a HEATH bar! Seriously probably one of the top 5 (thirds of the year).” –Jason (bigslowrock)

“Sweet chocolate, faint nuttiness and a bang of spice in the back off the throat. Off  to a good start.” –Ian (Sp@rky426)

Second Third

Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

Blind Cigar Review: Flor De Las Antillas | Robusto Second Third“No real evolution in the second third.  This has the rich tobacco and leather core from the first third.  Steady as she goes.  No complaints.  The pepper has mellowed and the finish has shortened a little.  Pepper is still strong on the retrohale.” –Brian (B-daddy)
“The woodsy flavors continue and now there is something that can be best described as an artificial almond flavor. The pepper has died down some but the finish still has some harshness mostly felt at the back of the throat. The nutmeg flavor can no longer be appreciated. The rich creamy smoke and the excellent burn line continue through the second third. The ash is getting flakier and doesn’t seem to hold on beyond half an inch.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

Final Third

Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Not much else to say. No real changes in the final third, flavors are the same as they have been throughout: black pepper, dry wood, leather and an underlying earthiness, like dry dirt.” –Derek (lilninjabuddy)
“Sweet cocoa and nuttiness abound. This is the best third so far with minimal spice returning in the last inch or so.” –Ian (Sp@rky426)

Overall Impressions

Draw: 94
Burn: 92

Blind Cigar Review: Flor De Las Antillas | Robusto Final Third
“The draw was loose with a slight resistance; just about perfect,  the type of draw that indicates easy smoking and big volumes of smoke.” –Brian (B-daddy)
“Cigar burned well. Never hot or harsh, and never had to relight. Burn line wandered a few times, but always self-corrected. Ash holds for at least an inch and a half each time.” –Derek (lilninjabuddy)

“The cigar started off with great promise however was quite unilateral with not much changes in flavors appreciated with progression. The flavors were quite pleasant but I would have liked more complexity. Since I personally don’t enjoy bitterness as a flavor, that is probably the reason why I docked a few points.” –Sandeep (Djangos)
“Very good cigar. Started out strong, nice rich flavors, and kept right on rolling through to the end.  Nothing negative about it.  Just easy to enjoy this cigar.  I found myself forgetting to review it and just sitting back and enjoying it.” –Brian (B-daddy)
Blind Cigar Review: Flor De Las Antillas | Robusto Overall
“I’m a little torn on this one.  As great as it started out, it finished so damn average. I would certainly smoke one again and for the right price look at picking some up in hopes that I get more of that first third flavor throughout the stick.” –Jason (bigslowrock)
“All in all very nice, I would enjoy another.” –Ian (Sp@rky426)
“It was pleasant, but not a cigar I would seek out or add to my humidor. It lacked sparkle, and came off as a bit flat. If it were a beer, I’d compare it to Guinness, nice, but flat, and the whole time I kept wishing there were something more to it.” –Derek (lilninjabuddy)
