General Cigar announces that Punch Rare Corojo will make its annual return to retail beginning on February 16, 2015. The seasonal collection will welcome a new frontmark and a limited edition size available exclusively this year.
The Punch Rare Corojo is coming back again, and this time the annual cigar is coming back in a size from the past. The Punch Rare Corojo 2022 will be an Arisocrat size, a 6.125 x 40/54 figurado. The size was originally made at the at the Villazon factory, commissioned by Frank Llaneza, founder of Punch Cigars in Honduras. Frank made what he referred to as a baseball bat-size cigar for Red Auerbach and Art Rooney, two sports legends.
The Punch Rare Corojo has resumed its annual retail presence, offering nine sizes with prices between $4.99 and $10.99. The seasonal cigar features a distinctive rosado Sumatra wrapper and a blend noted for its spicy and woody profile.
"I didn't hate the flavors of this cigar and it preformed very well technically; I just found myself becoming bored of the flavor profile. It was also a little awkward to smoke due to its very large size and boxed pressed shape." -Alan (Eulogy)
Punch Rare Corojo annual trip to retail shelves on February 1st. Over 20 years ago, a shortage of the wrapper leaf used caused the blend to remain off shelves for a few years, then, Punch Rare Corojo was reintroduced in 2001 and became one of the first cigars on the market to see an annual release.
