HVC Cigars has announced a new size in their 500th Anniversary line, a Salomon exclusive to attendees of the PCA trade show 2022. The company released the 500th anniversary in 2019 as a celebration of the city of Havana's 500th anniversary which was founded by the Spanish on November 16th, 1519.
HVC is bringing a new cigar to the PCA 2022 trade show. HVC Selección No. 1 is the first cigar to come out of their new factory, Fábrica de Tabacos HVC S.A., that opened in Estelí, Nicaragua four months ago. The new boutique factory has 5 pairs of rollers and work exclusively on HVC cigars.
"Straightforward notes of leather, plum, and black pepper are a good summary of what this cigar offers. It wasn't very exciting, but it wasn't bad either. Solid middle of the road cigar with nothing to really write home to mom about. " -Doug S. (Unpossible_1)
"Overall it had good flavors through and through. The strength of this cigar was more then I was expecting. The smoke output was a lot. The smoke texture was thick and really stuck to the palate. Musty mineral and rich earthy coffee notes. No sweetness to this smoke. Retrohale was very strong musty black pepper." -Chad M. (Chad Tchad)
After releasing the first cigar produced in their own brand new factory last year, Seleccion No 1., HVC Cigars is now set to release HVC Seleccion No1 in a Natural wrapper version. The HVC Seleccion No 1. Natural is a Nicaraguan puro with binders and fillers from the Esteli and Jalapa regions of Nicaragua. The wrapper is a Habano 92 seed grown in Ecuador. The blend is described as a medium full body cigar. It comes packaged in old school bright yellow box a throwback to owner Reinier Lorenzo's Cuban roots.
"A pleasant medium-body smoke that offered an abundance of sweetness and creaminess. That in my opinion would go nicely with an espresso. I enjoyed smoking this cigar mid-morning and I feel it would be a great addition to my rotation." -Quinn (quinnpins269)
Starting in August of this year, HVC Cigars will distribute its own cigars. This was previously done through Aganorsa Leaf who also rolls their cigars. This will be done through their new headquarters "HVC CIGARS HEADQUARTERS" in Doral, FL. None of the blends or lines are changing for the company.
This cigar carried a bit more strength than I expected based on previous cigars from HVC. It has darker flavors which would make me lean towards smoking it in the evening or as a final cigar of a multi-cigar smoking experience. There weren’t many transitions, but that is OK as the cigars flavors were good. I wouldn’t recommend this cigar to a new smoker, but rather someone that is interested in strength along with flavors of earthiness, coffee and wood.
