Blind Cigar Review: L’Atelier | Côte d’Or

"Overall, a very good cigar. With such a long cigar as this (roughly 7 inches and 48 ring gauge), the cigar did what I expected; start off with a core set of delicious, well balanced flavors (black pepper, leather, cedar, sweet cream, burnt bread) and build on them as the cigar progressed. I do wish the last third gave either an increase in body and/or more flavors (like the burnt bread starting from the second third). If this was the case, the cigar would have been bumped up to an excellent cigar. I would smoke this again but will pass on purchasing any." -Jiunn (jliu)

"Overall, this was a very good cigar. I enjoyed the earthy and creamy notes of roasted nuts, bread, cedar and black pepper quite a bit. These flavors intermingled very well together. "This was a very good cigar, especially the first two thirds. If the last third hadn't gotten dry and a little bitter, it would have scored higher. The flavors were not in your face, but quite complex. I liked the transitions it offered and kept me entertained. I would definitely smoke more of these, and I would like to see if the final third was the same in all samples. Not my favorite Cuban, but a solid stick." -Emmett (rhetorik)

"This was an interesting cigar with several flavor changes. In fact, it started almost opposite of how it finished, beginning with light flavors, and ending with a deep, dark earth/espresso bouquet. I noted just a bit of nicotine strength, but not too much, making it OK for the adventurous beginner. This is probably not a daily smoke for me, but not something I'd run away from." -Jason H. "This is a fantastic cigar with well balanced flavors and a smooth rich texture. The sweet notes in this cigar range from honey, to caramel, to a vanilla cream, which really makes the cigar come to life. These sweet notes pair well with hearty tobacco and oak notes. Construction is top notch and the draw evens out into a smooth draw with just enough resistance. This cigar may be a bit too much for beginners, but it is a necessity for experienced cigar enthusiasts. This was an amazing cigar experience and I could easily put this cigar into my regular smoking rotation. Once I know what this cigar is, I am going to hunt down a box." -Dave (Cigar Jukebox)

"The first two thirds of this cigar are some of the best and most complex you can find in a full body smoke. Burn, draw and construction are all top notch and the cigar is very well made. Unfortunately, the finish becomes unbalanced and slightly bitter in the final third. This can be a product of age and letting this cigar sit for a few months or so will rid the final third of this bitter note. I could buy 10 or so of this cigar and it will hit the mark when I am looking for a full body smoke.
