I must admit, when I approached the home rollers on the BOTL web forum about a friendly contest, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I learned that coordinating a series of this type is a big logistical challenge for which I was unprepared. In the end, it was a good experience for me. I hope it was also a good experience for those who participated, and especially our readers.
You will soon have the chance to enjoy the first handmade cigar blend released from the Balmoral Serie Signaturas (Signature Series) platform. Boris Wintermans collaborated with the E. P. Carrillo for this first release. The cigar is called DUETO, and it will premiere in the Royal Agio at the 2018 IPCPR trade show in Las Vegas.
Back in November of 2017, Blind Man's Puff published the blind panel review of the Protocol Themis by Cubariqueño Cigar Co. The cigar was a hit with our panelists, scoring a 91 averaged across the 5 panelists who reviewed it. Ring gauge (RG) can be a polarizing topic of conversation in many cigar shops. People who enjoy premium cigars have very specific opinions about the size of their cigar. Whatever you may think about the overly-large RG cigars, they are extremely popular and they drive sales. Give the public what they want, is probably a good business model. In keeping with this, Crowned Heads is releasing the Luminosa Gigantes LE 2018.
The patented, and absolutely unique wind & odor resistant ashtray is going to be featured at the 2018 IPCPR trade show by Cigar Oasis. Richard Becker & Lenny Koppelman developed and introduced the Ash-Stay back in 2014, and it quickly gained attention online, being by sold multiple online tobacconists.
Nick Syris released the LH Premium Cigar brand to the United States in 2014. In that release, the LH Claro was one of the blends that was introduced. The LH Claro originally came clad in a black and gold band over a Connecticut Shade wrapper leaf. Nick did some rebranding in 2015 on the entire LH line of premium cigars, and he also took some time during that period to make some changes to the blend of the LH Claro.
"I struggled with the rating on this one. I ended up giving it the benefit of the doubt and rating it "good" instead of "fair" because it was not in my wheelhouse. Overall, I wouldn't want to smoke it again. It strikes me as very similar to several homerolls I've tried, the flavor profile was overly syrupy, and lacked clarity. I tend to prefer a cleaner flavor profile. It's not for me, but fans of sweet cigars or sumatra wrappers might appreciate this one." -Derek (StogieNinja)
