"For the most part this was a nice cigar. It had some personality. The wood and nutmeg flavors were nicely balanced for most of the time. There was a bit if hickory in the final third but not for long. The smoke provided a nice smell of camp fire and the flavors left in the mouth were very nice. While it did start of mellow, it slowly became bold towards the end. The final moments did produce the bitter flavors you would experience at the end of most cigars. Overall this would pair nicely with a single malt or even a mixed drink while sitting by a camp fire." -Eric (smalls29)
Diesel has announced the second release in its Fool’s Errand trilogy with Simple Fool, a new, limited edition cigar that includes a unique interactive game. Simple Fool will ship to retailers on March 6.
Diesel is releasing a limited-edition version of its Hair of the Dog line this month. This cigar was created by AJ Fernandez with the help of brand manager Justin Andrews at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez in Esteli, Nicaragua. The fillers are made entirely of Nicaraguan Habano, while the wrapper is an Ecuadoran Habano, and binder Ecuadoran Sumatra. The regular Hair of the Dog line is a Cigars International exclusive that has been around since 2013.
This was a good offering from Diesel, no less that what I would expect. I don’t think it’s as good as the Unholy Cocktail or Puro Authentico, but I would put it above the regular unlimited line. I think with some time this will get better and more refined with less heat in the final third. When you take price into account, this is a very good budget cigar.
"This cigar was chock full of flavor and complexity that makes this one a medium to medium full bodied winner. Wouldn’t mind stocking up on a few of these to smoke in a weekly rotation. Check them out!" -John A. (Bostoneo)
This cigar was exactly what a project like this should be: not so prominent in the barrel-aged department that it takes over the blend, but enough that you know it was there. It reminded me of the Diesel Unlimited blend both profile-wise and on paper, but just with a little something extra. I'm not sure this is my favorite Diesel release, but it is up there with the Rage and Delirium. Definitely pick some of these up if you are a fan of Diesel, barrel aged cigars, or just want to try something new in general.
"Great looking and performing lancero. If you like an earthy profile this would be a great choice. I did find that it had a lack of transitions and was a bit one-dimensional. Still, the profile was solid and engaging the entire time." -Alan (Eulogy)
