"I was leery about the first third, hoping it may have some complexity of this blend, however i was delightfully surprised bu the last two thirds. A menagerie of roasted and tasty charred flavors intermingling with sweet caramel and chocolate flavors made this end up being two thumbs up for me! Paired with flawless appearance, construction and burn made it all the better. Top notch med-full bodied smoke!" -John A. (Bostoneo)

·"This one was like a Ferrari for me... Good right out of the gate and stayed true to the finish. This will be a cigar that I get more of for future enjoyment!" -Jason H. (Jokey Smurf)
This was a really good cigar, probably my favorite Altadis release in recent history. These were just good traditional flavors that were very balanced at every turn. I think these are ready to smoke right now, and have some short-term aging potential to really bring out the bready flavors. The construction was spot on with the draw and smoke production, and never had to light again. I'm glad I have a couple more of these and plan on smoking another very soon.
November 19th, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.— Montecristo will be holding its inaugural Montecristo Festival on November 19th at Merrick Park in Coral Gables, FL. The one-day event gives cigar lovers the chance to socialize and celebrate the cigar lifestyle, and will both educate and entertain, with events including cigar rolling and pairing presentations. The grounds will also feature games, art installations, and a live performance from Tomasito Cruz, the Grammy-winning Cuban musician.
The draw on this cigar was a bit tight, but not tight enough to affect the smoke, which is common of most cuban cigar, and lancero cigars. The burn was perfect, never had to touch it and the construction was fabulous, especially holding up like this for 31 years. While this wasn't the most flavorful or complex cigar, it was elegant and nuanced. I was worried before smoking and during the first third that this cigar might have aged out being 31 years old, but she definitely still has some life in her and it was a pleasure and a privilege to smoke such an aged cigar.
Tobacco wholesaler Santa Clara, Inc. is introducing an exclusive cigar from Altadis U.S.A.: Montecristo Volume 1: 100 Days. The cigar is rolled in Honduras at the Flor de Copan factory and blended by the Grupo de Maestros of Altadis U.S.A. The blend is said to contain some tobacco that has been aged ten years and uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan and Dominican Republic filler.
Altadis' Grupo de Maestros is collaborating with the Plasencia family again to make a followup to their 2014 Montecristo Espada, the Montecristo Espada Oscuro. Like the original release, this is a Nicaraguan Puro. This line extension uses a Habano Rosado Oscuro wrapper instead of the Nicaraguan Habano. This wrapper was chosen by Rafael Nodal, Head of Product Capability for Tabacalera USA. Nodal, Grupo de Maestro Pedro Ventura and the Plasencia family created the blend.
Smokers will soon be able to smoke a Montecristo cigar as imagined and interpreted by cigarmaker A.J. Fernandez. In a collaboration with cigar distributor Santa Clara Inc., Montecristo Crafted By A.J. Fernandez is the newest version of the heritage Montecristo brand.

·"This cigar was never in my wheelhouse, but I am happy I got the opportunity to smoke it. This cigar expands the palate from prelight to the nub of what a premium cigar can offer in terms of flavor. Maybe my palate is broken.. I have no idea, but the exhale/retro was interesting delivering the wet wood, peat, earth, citrus, salt and flighty cream. I would happily have a few of these on hand to enjoy with some rye whiskey." -Matt C. (Big Matt)
