"I really enjoyed this cigar, and I could tell this is a super-premium. I think these have a lot of aging potential if some of the spice would lessen over time and let more of those leather and woody flavors come through, and maybe more. “Overall a very good cigar. I enjoyed the first third immensely. The rich flavors of upfront cream, cedar, nuts, and just the right amount of white pepper finishing off with a hay/grass note was just awesome. The second and last third was a little bit of a let down. By no means was it bad, but I was expecting the second and last third to build on the first third. The inherent mild bitterness makes me believe this cigar will benefit from aging. I’d like to grab a fiver or tener to age and sample every 6 months. I think this will be a really great cigar come 2 years.” -Jiunn (jliu)

Cigar News: Cubanacan Addresses Rumors and Brand Changes

In the past few days leading up to IPCPR 2015 in New Orleans, stories, rumors and mixed information began spreading around various cigar sites about the departure of Hirochi Robaina from Cubanacan and the fate of his successful new brand HR 1845 as well as Cubanacan's factory. We have refrained on posting stories about this in order to get the facts and official statements straight first. The HR 1845 took the number 8 spot on our Top 25 list in 2014. It does appear that Robaina has left Cubanacan and joined with La Palina Cigars, and may not have gone about it the best way. Here is Cubanacan's official response.
