"I really enjoyed this cigar, and I could tell this is a super-premium. I think these have a lot of aging potential if some of the spice would lessen over time and let more of those leather and woody flavors come through, and maybe more. It did get a little hot in the final third, and I would have liked a little more complexity, but I think time will be good to it. Highly recommend." -Emmett (rhetorik)

·"Really good cigar. Solid core flavors, great initial flavor blast from the closed foot, and some interesting transitions along the way. There were a few minor construction issues, it wasn't tremendously nuanced and it got a little flat toward the end, but there's still good stuff happening here. I'd smoke a ton of these. " -John I. "Overall, a nice cigar. Not very complex, but with a solid profile and enjoyable flavors. This would be a good daily smoke if the price is right." -Dave (mdwest)

·“A great smoke in just about every way. I am not normally a fan of anything bigger than 50 RG, and rarely chose to smoke anything toro length or longer, but I would gladly smoke one of these again. The blend was nice, the profile hit a personal sweet spot for me, and the complete lack of a need for maintenance despite my inconsistent smoking over a period of more than an hour and a half, made smoking this cigar a very enjoyable experience.” –Dave W. ·"This sample was not only a joy to look at but was also pleasant journey to smoke. This cigar presented creamy cedar, citrus, roasted nuts, sweet fruit, doughy bread, hay, and a touch of cinnamon. In addition to that.. through the nose was espresso, dark chocolate notes, hay, earth, and black pepper. If you have the time to smoke a cigar for 2+ hours grab a few of these, and however many hands this blend took to come to fruition was well worth the work." -Matt C. (Big Matt)

·"I enjoyed this cigar. I'm starting to become more a fan of the torpedo shape and although this seemed to start out a little harsh, the flavors came to the forefront and stole the show. I would recommend this cigar for those aficionados who wish to have changing complexities throughout his smoke." -Kent (Throck)
In the past few days leading up to IPCPR 2015 in New Orleans, stories, rumors and mixed information began spreading around various cigar sites about the departure of Hirochi Robaina from Cubanacan and the fate of his successful new brand HR 1845 as well as Cubanacan's factory. We have refrained on posting stories about this in order to get the facts and official statements straight first. The HR 1845 took the number 8 spot on our Top 25 list in 2014. It does appear that Robaina has left Cubanacan and joined with La Palina Cigars, and may not have gone about it the best way. Here is Cubanacan's official response.
