Aganorsa Leaf (formerly Casa Fernandez) Signature Selection will be formally unveiled at the IPCPR trade show next month. The blend is a Nicaraguan puro using a rosado-claro Corojo ’99 wrapper over a Corojo ’99 binder and a blend of Criollo ’98 and Corojo ’99 tobaccos in the filler. The filler also uses a half leaf of the elusive medio tiempo priming. Media tiempo are tiny tobacco leaves that sometimes grow at the very top of a plant. They are very strong and flavorful.
Aganorsa Leaf has announced a new exclusive line for Aganorsa Select Partners: Rare Leaf Reserve. This new line uses select lots on their best farms that produce low yields of leaf unique in both flavor and aroma. Rare Leaf Reserve is comprised entirely of Aganorsa tobacco. The blend uses a café wrapper leaf from Jalapa, double binder and filler tobaccos of mostly Criollo 98 with a just touch of Corojo 99.
Cigar Dojo & Aganorsa Leaf have announced a new collaboration, Pagoda 2023. The launch for this limited edition will take...
"I absolutely adored this blend and I am anxiously awaiting to find out what it was so I can stock up. This is a very heavy spicy cigar that is full of both strength and flavor. The pepper was the superstar of the cigar so if you enjoy spice this is absolutely a stick you have to try. In the background, there were other supporting notes of earth, leather, mineral, and nutty flavors to help round the blend out. I ended up smoking this down to the nub until I just could not hold it anymore." -Lauren S. (Lauren S.)
Starting in August of this year, HVC Cigars will distribute its own cigars. This was previously done through Aganorsa Leaf who also rolls their cigars. This will be done through their new headquarters "HVC CIGARS HEADQUARTERS" in Doral, FL. None of the blends or lines are changing for the company.
JR Cigar continues its 50th Anniversary celebration, and their next cigar for that occasion is a collaboration with Aganorsa Leaf: Aganorsa Lunatic JR 50th. The Lunatic line is known for large ring gauges and one of the strongest profiles in the Aganorsa portfolio. However, this new version comes in a thinner, 6 x 46 vitola.
"This was an ok cigar. It didn't really blow me away. There were lots of wood, and earthy flavors mixed with white and black pepper, but the cigar sadly didn't shine for me until the final third where cream came in and really rounded the cigar out. Unfortunately the cigar really annoyed me with the burn issues. I can't recommend this cigar because of that reason. " -Mickey T. (irratebass)
Aganorsa Leaf is bringing back the Lunatic Torch, a rare brush foot cigar with the wrapper missing from the first half inch of the vitola to expose the binder and filler allow to be smoked before joining the wrapper. The blend uses 100% Aganorsa Leaf tobacco, featuring a Corojo 99 wrapper leaf from Jalapa, a double binder and fillers from Esteli and Jalapa.
For the first time in five years, Aganorsa Leaf is adding a new size to the original JFR line: Mi Favorito. The new size measures 5 x 70 and, like the rest of the line, has a thick pigtail. Mi Favorito will be offered in both the Corojo and Maduro blends.
"I really enjoyed this cigar. It was a great 1st smoke of the day, which it was for me. There was a bit of honey sweetness mixed with tea, coffee and just a hint of spice at the very end of the smoke. It stayed cool/light bodied the entire smoke, and never got above medium in strength. " -Mickey T. (irratebass)
