"This was an interesting cigar that featured highly enjoyable flavors, nice transitions, and the finish was the star of the show… until that harshness crept in towards the end. That harsh, somewhat bitter aspect led me to slam the brakes on the smoking experience sooner than I would have liked and it’s disappointing because I was curious as to what the final act would be. "This cigar wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t complex, and it was rough goings early on with a tight draw that eventually opened up to acceptable levels of airflow. "What started out as a good cigar ended poorly. Enjoyed the variety of notes that came through. Towards the end, the wrapper split and unraveled. Draw became hard and the cigar became spongy. Protocol Pool Party Year 2 – Blind Cigar Review

"This was likely the most challenging overall rating I've had to give since joining the team. The middle third was simply one of the best 30 minutes of cigar I've smoked this year. The unique, potent, balanced flavors were playing in perfect harmony and every puff somehow seemed to improve upon its predecessor. Unfortunately the first and final third underwhelmed. They certainly weren't bad, just subtle to the point of unnoticeable. So, would I smoke this again? 100% yes. In fact I'm dying to know: was the middle third an anomaly? Was the burn line issue a one-off? If there's even the slimmest chance I could experience, for a full 90 minutes, what I experienced at the halfway transition mark, I'd dedicate an entire shelf in my cabinet to these beauties." -Vance T. "Over all, a pleasant smoke with a good spice that hit the roof of your mouth and back of the throat, a good solid dark grey ash, plenty of smoke, very enjoyable after a day of dealing with sub zero temperatures and frozen pipes, it was warming indeed. "This is exactly what I'd look for as a morning cigar or first cigar of the day. I typically smoke stronger cigars from the beginning of the day to the end but this was a nice change of pace for me. I'm really starting to enjoy these more often. I'd give this cigar an overall rating of 89. Flavors were pleasant and not overwhelming or overpowering. Would I smoke this again? Yes. "The fact there was not much going on in the flavor and body of this cigar until almost halfway deducted points here, although it did develop into a very flavorful cigar. Had the cigar started as it finished, and developed as it did, it would have been a phenomenal smoking experience. Even though it did start off on the light side, I really do look forward to trying it again. This would be a great cigar to start the day with, as it does end up flavorful and can easily be smoked first thing on an empty stomach. Medium roast coffee with cream or sweet tea would be the strongest beverage to try and pair in the morning, as anything stronger would easily overrun it, even at the end. This would also be a cigar, though on the large side, that I would not be afraid to hand to anyone to enjoy. " -Kevin A. (Kevin A
