Blind Cigar Review: A.J. Fernandez | Last Call

"Overall, this is a very good cigar that will only benefit with a little more humidor time, say 3-6 months. I think this cigar might incorporate an Ecuadorian wrapper, due to the flavor profile (grass) however with its rosado shade it has me second guessing myself. I would easily recommend this cigar to a cigar newbie (on a full stomach) or a seasoned cigar enthusiast. This is a smoke I hope to get the chance to reach for again and again." -Matt C. (Big Matt)

“Although not my favorite flavors, this was an extremely enjoyable cigar. Long, slow and cool burn that was second to none. The expertise of which this cigar was rolled made it fantastic all around. "I find myself enjoying this more while reflecting back on it. The flavor profile was a very traditional style Nicaraguan with tobacco, cedar, leather, and pepper but it all worked very well when taken as a whole. The retrohale provided a bit of a break from the draw and even though the draw was a bit tight it was a good cigar for what it was. "I really enjoyed this compact cigar. It had a great construction and build and felt really smooth. The profile was complex and had a nice balance of cedar, hay, and pepper. "I enjoyed this cigar very much. The woody and nutty flavors were fantastic and the performance showed off the high quality tobacco and expertise of the roller. The nice white ash was a great contrast to the dark wrapper and looked fantastic while smoking. I will pick up a few more of these in the future. "I don't always reach for the cigar with the herb and spice notes, however this one was very enjoyable. The flavors stayed away from an overwhelming spice flavor, and just teased the palate with welcomed flavors. Overall this was a great smoke that will be enjoyed again after the reveal. I was blown away initially by the huge flavors this cigar produced and I couldn't have been luckier to have waited until early evening to smoke the cigar. "This one ran the spectrum of boldness. It started out with a medium bold taste that grew very bold and biter and then became mild in the final third. I was happy with the consistent flavors of wood and nut throughout which helped maintain some of the enjoyment of this smoke. The second third saw some bitterness come in but it wasn't so bitter that I wanted to out it down. I was surprised by how it mellowed towards the end.
