·Today, Alec and Bradley Rubin announced today that their second cigar, Gatekeeper, is how shipping to tobacconists worldwide. This cigar is a followup to last year's Blind Faith, which we rated a 92. This new cigar, Gatekeeper, is made at E.P. Carrillo's Tabacalera La Alianza in Santiago, Dominican Republic. It comes in four vitolas: Corona, Robusto, Toro and Gordo and sells for $8.75 to $12.25 per cigar.

"Very good cigar. Started out with an incense/aromatic element that I couldn't quite put my finger on other than incense, but it didn't stay through the whole cigar. It kinda faltered out about the middle of the 2nd and walnuts and sweet tobacco took over. By the end it was just wood and that same sweet tobacco. Strength never got up to a medium. Royal Agio Cigars USA has announced that their latest collaboration with La Flor Dominicana, Balmoral Serie Signaturas Paso Doble, is shipping. Last year Balmoral teamed up with E.P. Carrillo for the Balmoral Serie Signaturas DUETO, the first cigar of the Serie Signaturas. The company has said there will be more collaborations like this in the future, but did not say when or how many.

"I was happy that I had this cigar as a breakfast stick. It was a consistent smoke although it never really gave me any progression or transition of flavors. This was a mindless type of cigar smoking that I sometimes like. One would have to actually be careful that they didn’t pair it with a strong coffee as it would be overpowered. ·"I was honestly surprised by this cigar. When I saw the three different wrappers I was immediately a little suspicious that it was going to be what I call a “hokey” cigar. Gimmick without much to it. I was pleasantly surprised by the consistent good flavor notes and the ability of the cigar to transition fairly seamlessly into the next type of wrapper. It didn’t go from nothing to a beat down and that impressed me more than anything. It kept building in intensity but in a very mild yet noticeable way.
