Gilberto F. Oliva Sr., the patriarch of Oliva Cigar Co., died on Saturday in Miami, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He was 86 years old. Oliva was born in Cuba and was the grandson of Melanio Oliva, the first member of his family to grow tobacco. Oliva went from tobacco growing to tobacco brokering. He focused on leaf that many growers ignored, including libre de pie, the leaves that grow closest to the ground and are known as sand leaf.

"This was an enjoyable cigar. The flavors were a nice mild to medium and never overpowering. The construction was very good and added to the overall smoking experience. " -Quinn (quinnpins269)
"This was a very fun experience for me. I smoked it in the middle of the day on a very clean palate and was very pleasantly surprised. This is a very mild-mannered cigar, and with the profile of it, I find myself craving a nice Anejo tequila to pair with it the next time I smoke it. With the citrus and sweetness present in the cigar, I feel this would be an epic pairing. This has been a very unique smoking experience for me and I am really looking forward to finding out what it is so I can get more!" -Kevin A. (Kevin A.)
"While this cigar might be delicate to look at, it was a powerhouse in the flavor department. The first third bounced around with some bolder flavors while the second third set this cigar up for a grand finale. The final portion of this cigar made me wish I grabbed it on a cool morning with a cup of coffee and the day in front of me. What a wonderful smoke." -Gregg (McGreggor57)
Villiger Cigars have opened a new factory in Brazil, Villiger Do Brasil (which translates from Portuguese to “Villiger of Brazil”). Heinrich Villiger was there for the opening of the new facility, marking the next evolution of a long relationship between Villiger Cigars and Brazilian tobacco, dating back to Villiger Cigars’ beginnings in 1888, when Villiger began importing Brazilian tobacco. This later led to establishing a Brazilian Villiger subsidiary, and factory called Charutos Tobajara Limitada. The name is derived from a tobacco growing Indian tribe in the Amazon area
"Overall, this was mighty tasty. A wonderful mixture of leather, charred wood, stewed fruits and pepper led the way to make a winning combination. Combined with great construction, it makes this cigar a no brainer to pick up again to enjoy again!" -John A. (Bostoneo)

"This was a delight to smoke with its note changes that really compliment each other & excellent construction... It was truly great to sit back in the sun & enjoy the experience instead of tending to the cigar. " -Allison T. (The Yoga Ash)
